At least not something that would finally teach me how to do a proper bar muscle up. So finally this summer I got serious about training the muscle-up, among a few other exercises. This article is the result of my experience.

You see, if you don't change things up, if you don't make things harder, your body won't have a reason to adapt. Muscle growth is just an adaptation reaction to the external stress caused by the workout.

Most people training in gyms nowadays have difficulty doing pull-ups, let alone muscle ups. If you are reading this site however, this is soon going to change for you. If you haven't read it yet, you may want to start with the article on the sternum pull-up.
There are several reasons why I’m writing a tutorial for this exercise. I have tried several routines. Some have worked better than others.

I tried this routine two times and it got me to around 50 pushups.

I have also tried the routine that Pavel Tsatsouline described in his book Beyond Bodybuilding. It involved doing multiple sets of pushups every day. Some days I got to as many as 500+ pushups a day.

The program originally called for two weeks of practice. After one week, my pushup performance went up by 10 to 60 pushups.

My current routine involves training every other day. I do as many fresh pushups as I can (started with 9), get up and rest just a little bit and then get on the floor and do another set with one less repetition. I repeat this until I reach a set of one. Then I rest for 2 minutes and do a max set of pushups.Yavorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03605390488633838658noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26404289.post-66548262602839192232007-07-03T01:18:00.000-07:002007-07-03T01:31:34.688-07:00
Seems like the mummies of Egypt were not skinny after all. It is time for a general reconsideration of these prescriptions. After all, obesity has skyrocketed since their introduction.Yavorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03605390488633838658noreply@blogger.com2
