I have always wanted to be able to do 100 pushups. I have tried several routines. Some have worked better than others.
I tried this routine two times and it got me to around 50 pushups.
I have also tried the routine that Pavel Tsatsouline described in his book Beyond Bodybuilding. It involved doing multiple sets of pushups every day. Some days I got to as many as 500+ pushups a day.
The program originally called for two weeks of practice. After one week, my pushup performance went up by 10 to 60 pushups.
My current routine involves training every other day. I do as many fresh pushups as I can (started with 9), get up and rest just a little bit and then get on the floor and do another set with one less repetition. I repeat this until I reach a set of one. Then I rest for 2 minutes and do a max set of pushups.

From the new year eve 2005/2006 I made 500 push ups each day until september when I got bored. My record was 180. But people told me I made fake. Anyway, what I would like to say is that just if you do a couple of hundreds everyday you will be able to do over 100 in 3-4 months. I promise :)
